Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves, including three during a Detroit power play in overtime, and denied all three shooters in the shootout – Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat.
The Red Wings went 0 for 5 on the power play, registering six shots.
These teams meet again Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).
