ARK-LA-MISS, La. (KNOE) - Small Business Saturday began in the Ark-La-Miss. It is an annual event held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that encourages consumers to shop at small, local businesses and serves as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
West Monroe’s Antique Alley celebrated the holiday. Shops down the strip were giving out deals and helping shoppers find the perfect holiday gifts. Kevin Kelley, owner of Kringles on the Alley, spoke about why supporting local businesses is important.
Kelley says, “Small businesses, to me, are what helps and runs the state the most. So that’s why we shop local, we buy local, and a majority of our ornaments are locally made right here in Louisiana.”
