Hundreds of firefighters are battling an inferno that has destroyed a waste facility factory in Sydney, in the wake of a massive fireball that shot upwards of about 150 metres into the sky. First responders are now attacking the fire from all sides.
Pictures of apocalyptic scenes show the moment the night sky turned bright orange above the western Sydney suburb, with emergency crews capturing the moment the massive fireball erupted.
A large chemical tank was blown into the air with the monster fireball , causing fist-sized chunks of concrete to rain down on dozens of firefighting crews. Firefighters worked to establish determined lines of defence from holes blown out of neighbouring buildings, with other fire trucks pumping water by relay to douse the flames.
