A historic Birmingham library that 'will never reopen' in its original form remains frozen in time three years after closing.

Ladywood's Spring Hill Library closed 'temporarily' in December 2022 due to a heating problem caused by its ageing pipework.

But the Grade ll-listed Victorian building, next door to Tesco Superstore on Spring Hill, never reopened.

Newly-released images from campaign group Birmingham Loves Libraries show the interior has been perfectly preserved "like a time capsule". Books still line the shelves and posters remain on noticeboards.
