A petition calling on the City of Penticon to preserve Memorial Arena has collected hundreds of signatures so far.

This month, city council agreed to explore the feasibility of continuing to operate the 74-year-old ice arena for dry-floor use.

The petition ‘Preserve Memorial Arena for Dry Floor Use in Penticton’ on change.org is hoping to persuade city council to prolong the venue’s lifespan, albeit without the ice surface.

“Memorial Arena is not just a building it’s part of our community’s soul,” the petition reads. “For decades, this arena has served as a vibrant hub where generations have gathered, played, cheered, and grown together. It is a beacon of our collective history, our shared experiences, and it holds an essence of who we are as a community.”
