UK weather warnings issued as Met Office puts severe heavy rain alerts in force

The Met Office has issued a series of weather warnings across the UK with heavy rain forecast to see December get off to a soaking start. Four separate rain warnings are in place in parts of England, Scotland and Wales, including a severe Amber warning with a risk of flooding and landslides.

It follows a mixed weekend of weather for the North East, as downpours on Saturday led to event cancellations and an ice warning was in place for parts of the region overnight, but a dry day with sunshine followed on Sunday. More outbreaks of rain are forecast widely on Monday, December 1.

While the North East has escaped the Met Office weather warnings with none in place at the time of writing, th
