A 78-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a Westchester County street. 

The crash happened in Yonkers just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, near the intersection of Central Park Avenue northbound and Clark Street, according to Detective Lieutenant Frank DiDomizio of the Yonkers Police Department. 

DiDomizio said first responders gave emergency aid at the scene before taking the woman to a nearby hospital. She later died from her injuries. 

Investigators said the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating. According to police, early findings show no signs of criminality, and the case is being treated as an accident.

The victim's name has not been made public. 

The investigation is still active, and additional information may be released as it becomes available, DiDomizio added.
