A new era began on the Plains today, as now former USF head coach Alex Golesh was hired to lead the Auburn football program.
He replaces recently fired coach Hugh Freeze and takes over a program looking to finally get back to the level of success it was once used to.
Auburn hasn’t won more than six games since 2019. It’s missed out on a bowl game in three of the last four seasons. Neither of the previous two head coaches ever found any success, as Golesh hopes to be the man to turn things around.
Looking at his brief head coaching career so far, Golesh has experience with turning programs around. At USF, the Bulls were 4-29 in the three seasons before he arrived, but 23-15 in Golesh’s three years in charge.
His 7-6 season in 2023 was the program’s first winning record in five years,
