Nearly every university in the country with a grossly underperforming football coach has fired him, with the exception of Wisconsin and Florida State. With another loss bringing that total to eight in a row, Maryland’s athletic director showed malfeasance in office by bringing back a coach who truly has shown that he can’t be successful (“ Maryland football season ends on sour note in 38-28 loss to Michigan State ,” Nov. 29).
His stance on bringing back coach Michael Locksley is a glowing mistake that will be dealt with again next year with another unsuccessful season. Don’t be mistaken in thinking that additional fault shouldn’t be assigned to the president of this university for allowing this horrible decision to take place.
