Stargazing enthusiasts gathered in Mexico City on Saturday night to look up at the Moon, Saturn or further into space.
The Night of the Stars featured talks and hands-on activities between scientific researchers and astronomers and the public.
Organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the event also honored popular Mexican astrophysicist and science communicator Julieta Fierro. Fierro died in September at the age of 77.
Ernesto Fernando Zaldívar, a psychotherapist and astrophotography, said the gathering helped to "build a bridge" between people and the scientific community.
UNAM researcher Dr. Yilen Gómez Maqueo Chew said she was happy to see the number of people who wanted to learn about astronomy.
