An ad-hoc committee is studying how three Perrysburg groups could work more efficiently to attract tourism dollars to the city, and if city hotel tax should be distributed differently.

Gerri Walczak, Visit Perrysburg board president, asked to speak at the Nov. 18 council meeting, as it was about to adjourn, citing concerns about city hotel tax and the possibility that it may be directed to the Perrysburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

“It cannot be transferred to a chamber or used for general business promotion,” Ms. Walczak said. “Doing so would violate the state law and our city ordinance.”

Earlier that day, some Visit Perrysburg board members had attended an ad-hoc meeting in which they learned of plans to possibly redirect those dollars, she said.
