A rough season for Michigan State ends on a positive note as the Spartans managed to end their eight-game losing streak with a 38-28 win over Maryland Saturday night at Ford Field.

Over two months went by between victories for MSU, but its offense really came through to push the Spartans to a 4-8 record for the season under coach Jonathan Smith.

For the game, MSU earned an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 72.6, just their third overall mark over 70 since the start of Big Ten play.

The heavy lifting came from the offense, which accumulated 453 total yards of offense and averaged 6.5 yards per play. The unit’s 76.2 grade was the second-highest of the season, trailing MSU’s win over FCS Youngstown State.
