Reigning four-time world champion Max Verstappen took full advantage of a disastrous McLaren race strategy in the penultimate outing of the campaign at the Lusail International Circuit to claim his third victory in the last five races.

Leader Lando Norris had the chance to seal his maiden F1 world championship with one weekend to spare in Qatar, yet was denied as he missed the podium completely, finishing fourth behind Williams’ Carlos Sainz, and now leads a resurgent Verstappen by only 12 points ahead of a delicious final-day shootout in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next week.
