Doctor Who star Alex Kingston has become the eighth celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing , after landing in the dance off against Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.

During Sunday's results show, Alex and her professional dance partner Johannes Radebe attempted to secure their place in the competition by performing their Cha Cha to Anita Ward's 'Ring My Bell '. Unfortunately for the duo, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Head Judge Shirley Ballas, the latter of whom had the casting vote, decided to save Balvinder and Julian.

As they headed over to co-host Tess Daly , Alex reflected on her Strictly journey. "I had never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would last this long. It's been just the most incredible journey for me," she began.
