HIGH FALLS, N.Y. — The Rev. AJ Funk, who is the new minister at the Community Church of High Falls and the Rochester Reformed Church in Accord, decided to leave his Midwestern environs to take his first job as a pastor in Ulster County.
Funk earned a bachelor’s degree in theological studies, biblical studies, and philosophy at Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. He went on to Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, where he met his wife, Vanessa.
Funk, 27, said his wife found a job first and then, after he finished a second master’s degree at the Western Theological Seminary, he began searching for positions on the Reformed Church in America (RCA) website. He interviewed for the job in High Falls and Rochester this year. After
