Fire crews were called to a house in North Yorkshire in the early hours of the morning after concerns were raised that a resident had fallen asleep- with a pizza left cooking in the oven.

The alarm was raised at around 1.45am on Sunday (November 30) when a worried caller reported being unable to contact their partner, who they believed had left food unattended while asleep.

Crews from Ripon and Thirsk fire stations attended the property in Middleton Quernhow.

After arriving on the scene, firefighters found that the pizza had already burned out in the oven, and there was no fire to extinguish.

Firefighters removed the charred pizza, located the sleeping resident and woke them.
