NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A search is underway for the driver of a 2001 red Lincoln Navigator, who the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) says ran after causing a fatal four-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 early Sunday morning.
MNPD said the crash happened on I-24 East at mile marker 62.6 near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit ramp at 3:20 a.m.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the Navigator was going too fast in heavy traffic and ran into the back of a stopped Toyota Sienna,” MNPD said. “The impact caused the Sienna to collide with the rear of a Ford Edge, which then pushed the Edge into the back of a Freightliner.”
Following the crash, the driver of the Navigator reportedly fled on foot and left the vehicle behind.
MNPD said two backseat passengers in the Sienna were killed
