NORTH BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A hunter was seriously injured on the first day of firearm deer season after officials said the hunter fell from a tree stand in North Buffalo Township early Saturday morning.

In a post from the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, officials were called to a remote area of North Buffalo Township near Johnston and Winfield just before 7 a.m.

Officials said the terrain was rough and steep, with the use of a utility terrain vehicle being necessary to extract the person.

The post said the hunter was flown to a local hospital for treatment.
