HUNTINGTON, Texas — A lightning strike caused a structure fire Saturday night in Angelina County.
Huntington Volunteer Fire Department said they assisted Zavalla VFD with a structure fire around 11:37 p.m. on Massey Road off FM 1270. The fire started from a lightning strike and burned a hole in the side of the attic space.
Crews performed an interior attack, but wind drove the fire spread faster than crews could douse it. The roof collapsed after four hours of firefighting efforts, destroying most of the items inside.
No injuries were reported. Angelina River Fire and Rescue and Colmesneil Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.
