LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. —
One person is dead, and two people are injured after three separate shootings over the span of 14 hours in Lafourche Parish.
On Nov. 29, deputies received a call of an accidental shooting around 4 p.m. on Nov. 29 on Bayou Folse Road in Raceland. Advertisement
According to deputies, Garret Verdun, 45, of Raceland, was hunting with a friend when a rifle discharged.
Verdun was struck in the head and died as a result of the injury.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The second shooting happened five hours later on Headland Drive in Thibodaux.
Deputies said a man in his 20s was hit in the leg by a single bullet.
He was treated at the hospital and released.
