BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Christmas season has officially begun on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The college held its annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday evening. Led by conductor Dr. Dan Hughes, the Wesleyan Concert Chorale and Concentus Vocum performed various Christmas carols for attendees.

The festival's program combined Christian scripture with religious hymns, said Jonathan Acord, dean of the chapel.

"During the Festival of Lessons and Carols, we have a reading of scriptures," he said. "We also have music by the music department."

The program tells a story that holds significant meaning for people of the Christian faith, Acord said.

"It's a telling of Christ coming to live among us and how God has reveled himself to us through Christ," he said.
