COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nine-year-old Jack has turned his family’s central Ohio home into what he proudly calls “Teddy Bear HQ."
In one month, he has collected hundreds of teddy bears to donate to young patients spending the holidays at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
He is calling the mission “Jack’s Bravery Bears."
“The people at the hospital, when they get it, they can like be brave,” he said.
Jack came up with the idea when volunteering with his family last year, making blankets for children at the hospital.
“I thought… wouldn’t the kids at Nationwide like to have teddy bears to go with their blankets?” he said. “Last year we collected 445.”
This year, he’s on track to surpass that number. His neighbors, church community and even classmates have started joining in and donating bears.
