DETROIT – Few teams have planted Pontiac Notre Dame Prep into a hole in the past few years like Grand Rapids West Catholic did in Sunday evening’s Division 5 championship game.
West Catholic scored four times unanswered to start the game and added two defensive TDs early in the second half to defeat the defending champion Irish 42-14 at Ford Field.
“We were very proud to come back and defend our 2024 state championship,” ND Prep head coach Pat Fox said. “West Catholic today, a fine football team, did some tremendous things on the offensive and defensive lines and controlled the flow of the game. All credit to them.”
Following four punts and a fumble lost on the team’s first handful of drives, senior Drake Roa provided the Irish some hope wit
