Back in college, my friends and I came up with a dark inside joke to keep ourselves from going mad during midterms. It was a game we called "Bad Dad, Great Dad."
It was simple: Name a positive male role model who, by all accounts, is a great father and call him a "bad" dad. Why? No reason at all. In response, someone else names a terrible guy—war criminals, serial killers, true crime subjects—and comes up with why they are, in fact, a "great dad." In lieu of TikTok, this is how we dumbass 19-year-olds entertained ourselves.
So imagine my surprise after all these years to see IT: Welcome to Derry playing its own version of "Bad Dad, Great Dad." In episode 6, "In the Name of the Father," patriarchs come in all shapes and sizes: loving ones who hug, loving ones who hurt, and loving on
