Howard Marc Garfinkel passed away on Nov. 29, 2025, at his home in Washington, D.C., after a lengthy battle with Lewy body dementia.

Howard was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, graduating from Shaker Heights High School in 1968 where he was captain of the football team, played baseball and made lifelong friends. He met his wife of 53 years, Terri, when they were just 10 years old. They were good friends through middle school, and became high school sweethearts.

Howard attended Miami University (of Ohio) where he studied English, and then went on to law school at The Ohio State University. He practiced law at Ulmer & Berne in Cleveland for five years before taking over his family business.
