FAYETTEVILLE -- The city aims to add housing while maintaining the character of neighborhoods with a pilot program launched Nov. 18.

The Permit-Ready Building Design Program -- proposed as a part of the city's 2040 Plan -- provides builders and property owners with "pre-reviewed, architect-designed home plans that streamline the path from concept to construction," according to a city news release about the program.

The program's aim is to remove barriers to home development while maintaining the character of the neighborhoods the homes are added to, according to Britin Bostick, the city's long range planning and special projects manager.
