ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A teenage activist has stepped down as assistant secretary of the Georgia Republican Party, according to the party chairman.

On Sunday, Chairman Josh McKoon announced Ja’Quon Stembridge’s resignation, effective Saturday.

McKoon did not give a reason for why Stembridge resigned, but said in a statement on social media that the party will move promptly to fill the vacancy.

Stembridge was elected to the position earlier this year at the age of 18.
