A Form Four student at MEPIC Private Secondary School in Balaka, Aubrey Misoya, has died after reportedly ingesting a suspected poisonous substance.
According to a statement issued by the school’s Managing Director, Kingsley Frederick Maikalanga, Aubrey left the school on Thursday with an approved exit pass to go home. His parents confirmed that he arrived safely and later returned to school on Saturday.
He was later found in critical condition in an unfinished building behind the MEPIC school fence, where he is believed to have taken poison. Maikalanga said the student was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
