A UK city centre is set for a major revamp thanks to a huge £2.17 million project launched by the local council. Carlisle city centre, located in Cumbria, is a vibrant and historic hub full of potential. And now, Cumberland Council plans to revamp the Caldew Riverside site to make space for new homes and boost economic growth.
The brownfield site that covers 2.2 hectares is wedged between the River Caldew and the West Coast Main Line . Being comprised of scrubland, hardstanding, and trees, and featuring the Caldew Riverside car park, the site offers the perfect space to utilise its "untapped potential" and bring economic growth to Cumbria's only city, which is home to more than 110,000 residents.
