FLORENCE — A black-and-white photo of two young boys peering in a storefront window at a holiday display is the inspiration for downtown Florence’s annual ornament.
The ornament showcases the Barringer Building, a piece of downtown Florence that dates back to at least the 1880s, and it immortalizes those two boys looking at into the store.
The Florence Downtown Development Corp., a nonprofit, started making the annual ornaments back in 2021 as a way to commemorate Florence’s historical buildings, according to Downtown Development Manager Hannah Davis.
“We focus our efforts on the historic buildings in the downtown area as a way to preserve their legacy and to help people connect with the places that they've been,” Davis said about the ornaments.
