QUINCY (WGEM) - The National Retail Federation reports around 73.9 million people are expected to do some online shopping as part of Cyber Monday.
However, when shopping online there is always a risk of being scammed.
JR Bareis, CEO of Tigerhawk Technologies, said one cybersecurity company warned it saw a 250% spike in fake online storefronts in the run up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
When shopping online, Bareis said it’s important to stick to trusted websites.
Scammers use a variety of techniques to steal money and information. Bareis said this often includes fake websites, fake ads and popups.
