A woman sadly died following an incident which closed part of the M6 near Coventry . Police closed off the southbound of the M6, between junctions 3a and 3, yesterday afternoon (November 30).

Traffic was diverted as medics were called to the scene. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed that a passing ambulance with a a patient on board stopped at the scene together with an off-duty East Midlands Ambulance Service specialist paramedic. WMAS also sent a paramedic officer and second officer.

Medics found that a woman, understood to have been a pedestrian, was seriously injured. A WMAS spokesperson said: "Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
