A north London teenager has been charged with multiple offences after a video of an alleged robbery at a Leicester student accommodation block went viral.

Footage posted online showed a man being hit with a trouser belt and reportedly forced to transfer money from his bank account.

The incident is said to have taken place at The Tannery in the city’s Bath Lane on November 21.

On the same night, officers were told a group of men had then visited a second address 13 miles away in Harborough District and demanded those inside transfer money to them and hand over designer clothing.

Leicestershire Police said Richile Vangu, 19, of Bowes Road, New Southgate , is accused of nine counts of robbery, four relating to the incident in Bath Lane and five concerning the Harborough matter.
