Lahore High Court took up a miscellaneous petition seeking measures to curb smog and issued notices to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and other respondents over the alleged cutting of trees in Nasir Bagh.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique.
The petitioner contended that despite clear court orders, trees were felled in Nasir Bagh, and earlier, a banyan tree had also been cut in the Cantonment area.
The petition stated that authorities routinely offer apologies after such incidents but fail to take concrete action. It requested the court to order proceedings against those responsible for the tree-cutting in Nasir Bagh.
The court adjourned the further hearing until December 5.
