CINCINNATI —
Proposed cuts to federal funding for permanent housing programs in Cincinnati could leave nearly 3,000 people without access to essential services, according to local organizations.
Strategies to End Homelessness administers these funds for Cincinnati and Hamilton County, with about 90% currently supporting permanent housing programs. Advertisement
The proposed changes would limit funding for permanent housing to only 30%, as part of former President Trump's plan to end previous "Housing First" policies and increase accountability for awarded grants.
Kevin Finn, president of Strategies to End Homelessness, said there would be an increase in need from local emergency shelters, healthcare systems, and law enforcement, making it harder to help people get off the streets.
