A new documentary is pulling back the curtain on New York’s Christmas tree vendors.

“The Merchants of Joy” follows the five families who dominate the city’s sidewalk tree trade, spotlighting their long nights, tight corners and fierce competition.

Director Celia Aniskovich joined “Mornings On 1” Monday to talk more about the film and how these merchants help shape the city’s holiday spirit.
