A large police cordon is in place after a body was found in a popular North East park. Emergency services were called to Roker Park in Sunderland this morning following a report of concern for the welfare of a man.

North East Ambulance Service attended the scene alongside Northumbria Police and a large section of the park was taped off by officers. The cordon remains in place, however, some sections of the park remain open to the public.

Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service confirmed they attended the scene. Follow for updates.
