The Summit County Medical Examiner and the Akron Police Department are investigating the Nov. 29 homicide of a 44-year-old woman from Akron, Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the medical examiner's office, said.

Police responded to a residence in the 500 block of Miles Avenue at about 2:10 a.m. for reports of a shooting, Guenther reported. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim, identified as Rebecca Lee Guthrie, lying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound and multiple stab wounds.

Guthrie was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:31 a.m.
