BATON ROUGE, La. (WVUE) - Lane Kiffin arrived in Baton Rouge on Sunday to become LSU’s new head football coach, leaving his Ole Miss team during their playoff run.
Kiffin will be officially introduced at 3:30 p.m. Monday at LSU. The former Ole Miss coach has signed a seven-year contract worth approximately $12 million per year, totaling about $90 million with bonuses and incentives.
LSU fired Brian Kelly over a month ago and targeted Kiffin as their top choice for the position.
Kiffin leaves Ole Miss mid-season
Kiffin will not finish the season with Ole Miss, despite the team having only one loss and being playoff-bound. He said in a social media statement Sunday that Ole Miss athletic director denied his request to complete the season with the Rebels.
