OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - Timothy Herrington Jr. pleaded guilty as he was set to face trial--again--for the murder of former fellow Ole Miss student Jimmie “Jay” Lee .
Herrington pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
He is set to be scheduled Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Herrington was first arrested in 2022, weeks after Lee was reported missing .
Herrington went on trial for Lee’s murder in December 2024, but a mistrial was declared.
After nine hours of deliberations, the jury couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. The main reason was that no body had been found.
Lee’s remains were found in February 2025 in Carroll County, Mississippi.
Days later, a grand jury issued a new two-count indictment against Herrington for capital murder and evidence tampering connected
