ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Four people died in car crashes in Georgia during the busy Thanksgiving travel period, according to state officials.
As of Sunday morning, there have been 349 crashes across the state, resulting in four deaths and 168 injuries, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, which oversees the Georgia State Patrol.
There have also been 335 DUI arrests since 6 p.m. Wednesday, the start of the travel period, according to the department.
The department also reports 436 distracted driving citations and 624 seatbelt citations.
Last year, the department reported 684 crashes, which resulted in 17 deaths and 349 injuries, over the Thanksgiving travel period. More than 470 impaired drivers were also arrested and 17,356 citations were issued, the dep
