PENNSYLVANIA, USA — World AIDS Day is held every year on December 1. It was first observed in 1988 as a way to support people living with HIV and AIDS.
"To remember those that we've lost to the AIDS epidemic and to come together in unity and hope for better treatments, better access to treatments, and better healthcare for people who are living with HIV," AIDS Resource Executive Director Kirsten Burkhart said.
Kirsten Burkhart is the Executive Director of AIDS Resource, which has offices in Williamsport and State College. AIDS Resource opened in 1988 and offers a wide range of services for people who are living with HIV, including case management.
