A person died after they were hit by a train in the Midlands, police confirmed.

The casualty was found on the tracks at a station in Leicestershire.

British Transport Police officers were called to Sileby Railway Station at around 10.40am today, Monday, December 1.

Medics also attended and found the person on the tracks who could not be saved.

They were pronounced dead at the scene and their death was not being treated as suspicious.

A file was due to be prepared for the coroner, LeicestershireLive reports.

All lines between Loughborough and Leicester were closed.
