The City of Chelsea will consider an economic development project this week that could bring Target to the city.

According to documents, a public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Chelsea City Hall on the proposal.

Franklin Land Associates, an affiliate of Nashville-based GBT Realty, has an option to purchase a little more than 20 acres at the intersection of Chelsea Corners Way and Alabama 47. Target would acquire 11.71 acres of that property.

The developer would spend about $7 million in site preparations for Target and would develop a 7-acre, 30,000-square-foot retail space for shops and restaurants. The remaining 2 acres would be reserved for future sale.

According to the documents, the city would offer incentives of a 37.5% sales tax rebate, excluding education taxes,
