With the holidays quickly approaching, the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority is hoping to bring awareness to holiday-related fires with the red wreath program for the second year in a row.
Each Loveland fire station will put up a wreath wrapped in red lights and every time a holiday-related fire occurs, one of the bulbs will be switched to white. The department hopes “Keep the Wreath Red” will bring awareness to the increased number of fires during the holiday season.
Fire incidents nearly double during the holiday season, with some of the main causes being Christmas trees, decorations, lights, candles, and holiday cooking, according to an LFRA emailed press release.
