Fifteen years after the debut of Starz ‘s hit drama “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” creator Steven S. DeKnight is returning to the ancient Roman Republic to rewrite history with the sequel series, “ Spartacus: House of Ashur .” In the original show and its subsequent chapters, Spartacus (portrayed by Andy Whitfield before his untimely death, and later by Liam McIntyre) killed the traitor Ashur ( Nick E. Tarabay ) on Mount Vesuvius. In “House of Ashur,” the former gladiator gets an alternative ending, one in which the arrogant Syrian lives.
