BART says it has a plan to ensure riders feel safe as they travel to events this holiday season, and the agency says that plan is already working.
BART’s police chief on Monday morning spoke with NBC Bay Area about increased patrols by uniformed officers that riders will see on all trains and at all 50 stations.
BART police Chief Kevin Franklin said riders can expect those increased patrols to continue through the holiday season. He said as of October, crime on BART was down 45% overall, and violent crime has dropped 32%.
