Early Monday morning, Portland finally dipped down to freezing, but only for “one little short blip,” according to Rebecca Muessle, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Portland.
“Based off of our airport observations, we did get down to 30 degrees,” Muessle said.
At 2:25 a.m., she said, the Portland International Airport registered 32 degrees. About an hour later, the temperature was back up above freezing.
It is the first time this season that the airport has recorded a temperature of 32 degrees or below.
Portland had a warmer-than-average November. Last week, Tom Schuldt, also a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Portland, told The Oregonian/OregonLive that November was trending two to three degrees warmer than average.
