Srinagar- The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested an absconder carrying a reward of ten lakh rupees in the 1989 kidnapping of Rubaiyya Sayeed, the daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Officials identified him as Shafat Ahmed Shangloo, alleged to be a close confidant of JKLF chief Yasin Malik.
The agency said Shangloo had been wanted for decades for allegedly taking part in a conspiracy hatched by members of the banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.
