A large audience enjoyed the Quinte Symphony’s annual Christmas concert — Tinsel and Tango on Saturday at Maranatha Church.

It was a concert with something for everyone, with a focus on yuletide music, but plenty of extra material, such as Leroy Anderson’s famous Sleighride and several selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.

Emcee for the afternoon was Pauline Witzke, who included generous and interesting program notes for each item. She also expressed thanks to Eben James and Trenton Cold Storage for sponsorship of the day’s concert, one of many they have supported over the years. This thought was reinforced later in the program when a little five-year-old girl, Angelica Lee, who belted out promotional lyrics for the tune: Hark the Herald Angels Sing, while her father Herman
